U15 North Kerry Championship Final Result and Match Report:
Tarbert 1-15, Moyvane 0-09.
Our 15s recorded a fine victory in the North Kerry Championship final today in Ballylongford.
In almost perfect conditions, Tarbert got off to a flying start and were ahead 0-07 to 0-02 at the first half water break thanks primarily to the unerring free taking from Paudie Finucane who contributed 4 points in this period. The second quarter saw Tarbert remain dominant overall as Adam Enright struck for an opportunistic goal mid-way through the quarter to put Tarbert in a very dominant position. While Moyvane did improve our boys went in at half time in a lead of Tarbert 1-09, Moyvane 0-05.
On the resumption of play Moyvane grew more and more into the game but kicked 3 very bad wides at the start of the 3rd quarter which could have put them in closer contention, leaving Tarbert ahead 1-11 to 0-07 heading into the final quarter.
Tarbert looked the hungrier and fitter team and this showed in the final quarter as they drove for home and won out on a score line of Tarbert 1-15, Moyvane 0-09.
The cup was presented to Tarberts outstanding captain Conor Egan by the North Kerry Board’s Sean Moriarty.
Tarbert were dominant in most positions in the field overall today. Aaron White was faultless in goals and his kickout gave Tarbert a great platform. Dylan Kennedy and Thady Mulvihill were solid and went about their job very effectively. Shane Stack grew into the game and made a couple of telling surges up the field to spark his team into life during the game. Michael Coolahan had an immense game in the full back line and repelled multiple Moyvane attacks with an exhibition of high fielding very noticeable. Lee Moriarty was tigerish throughout and kicked two superb points from corner back today. David Mulvihill was at his usual dominant best throughout the game and held the centre back position very well, contributing an excellent point from play.
At midfield Conor Egan and Shaun Wren held sway over proceedings over the 60 minutes. Conor had the task of marking one of Moyvanes key players, Darragh O Keefe, and over the 60 minutes Conor Egan came out on top in this fierce battle. Shaun Wren grew into the game and drove his team on very well, particularly in the second half when Tarbert were reduced to 14 players for a black card.
In attack Lee Mulvihill did trojan work for his team throughout the game, winning breaking ball, tackling and setting up attack after attack. Paudie Finucane kicked 6 points on the day and won endless possession from the centre forward position. Paudie was Tarbert’s stand out performer on the day. Caolam Moriarty was industrious throughout at wing forward. The full forward line of Pa Dillon, Adam Enright and Tadhg O Connell scored a total of 1-05 from play and were a constant threat for the Moyvane defence. Enright was a handful for the Moyvane full back all day. The movement and interplay of Tadhg O Connell at corner forward was outstanding, scoring 2 points from play himself and setting up 4 more scores also. Mikey Carmody, Jack Walsh and Cathal Halton performed very well when introduced in the second half.
Well done to Paddy Moriarty and Joe Coolahan who have done an excellent job preparing this team all year.
This victory today see’s Tarbert claim a remarkable treble winning (1) County League Div 4 (2) North Kerry League Div 1 and (3) North Kerry Championship Div 1 all in 2021.
Comhghairdeas le gach duine.
